Chapter 1: The Introducction
My name is Stephanie Knight. I'm from a little town called Sedona, not too far from here. Growing up I've had English classes in elementary school and humanities classes in high school (a combination of English and History). I've always loved it, and the fact that I grew up having to do the Accelerate Reading program (A.R. for short) I've become somewhat of a bookworm; so much so that I got bookshelves for Christmas from my sister. Which has been great because I was able to read throughout high school not only the books required but books I've enjoyed, like my favorite series by Jennifer Valent called the Calloway Summers series. It's a trilogy of books that I can't say I favor any one of them because they're all so great, they are historic fiction set in the times of the Klu Klux Klan in the South, plus it's got some romance (who doesn't love that?) and it's about living outside the bounds of prejudice. Not only do I have a passion for reading, but I've always had a passion for writing. I remember making up stories when I was little that consisted of little blobs on paper but in my mind where tales of far of places. I didn't really discover my love for writing until my Freshman year of high school, I had always enjoyed doing the writing assignments in my journal, and didn't mind to do essays for class, but I never would have said I loved it. My Freshman year of high school I had to write my first short story which was pretty daunting but I actually found I really enjoyed it, this was the pique of my interest. In high school all four years I worked on the Yearbook, which of course included writing, but Sophomore year one of our finals for the class was to create a short story, I had one under my belt and found that the second one was easier and more fun. Each year after that I had to create a short story for part of my final for that class and found that I looked forward to doing them. I even started writing story ideas here and there and I realized last summer that I knew what I wanted to be, a writer. Between my love of reading and writing the job of been a writer came as a shock and first but then it seemed like that it's what God has had planned for me all along, and I can't wait to get started.
